FAIRBORN — Fairborn Intermediate School was given a momentum award by the Ohio Department of Education for continued academic improvements.

According to a press release from Fairborn City Schools, the award is given to schools that increase their performance index by three or more points from the 2021-2022 academic year, and receive a value-added rating of four or more stars in the 2022-2023 report card.

Fairborn Intermediate Schools earned 4.5 out of 5 stars, this score includes improving test scores and daily student attendance.

According to the Ohio Department of Education, “value-added” refers to a statistical analysis used to measure the impact of districts, schools, and teachers on the academic growth (or progress rates) of groups of students from year to year. Academic growth is measured by looking at the current achievement compared to prior achievement results on Ohio’s state tests.

“FCS is very proud of our students and staff at Fairborn Intermediate School, and we share this special award with the Fairborn community,” the district said in the release.
