Art on the Lawn show set for August

YELLOW SPRINGS — The Village Artisans Gallery of Yellow Springs is sponsoring this year’s 39th annual Art on the Lawn show Aug. 12.

From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., the outdoor festival will display a wide array of artwork from more than 100 different artists. Food and live music will be available at the festival, which will take place under the shade trees at 200 S. Walnut Street.

This year’s featured artist is Kathy Woodruff, returning winner for Best Show at the 2022 Art on the Lawn festival. Woodruff grew up in Beavercreek as her parents opened Busy Beaver Arts and Crafts 47 years ago. This upbringing encouraged Woodruff to create glass art as early as 15 years old.

Woodruff is a self-taught artist and attends around 22 shows a year to show off her fused glass artworks she has been practicing for the past 20 years.

Artists will be showing — and even selling — their fine art pieces of all kinds. Art styles planned for the fair include ceramics, drawings, fiber art, glass, jewelry, leather-work, mixed media, paper craft, paintings, photography, and more.

The Village Artisans Gallery asks guests to not bring pets to the fair, as the hot weather and crowds with children can create an unsafe environment for animals.

The Village Artisans Gallery, a cooperative gallery of 20 different artists and artisans, is located at 100 Corry Street in Yellow Springs. The gallery sells locally made and unique pieces of art and jewelry similar to what will be presented at the Art on the Lawn show this August.
