Rams edge Fairborn

TROTWOOD — Evelyn Oktavec had a team-high 15 points, Kaylie Cook added 11, and Khala Powell and Zyon Olinger both had eight points for the Skyhawks’s Jan. 28 50-48 loss on the road. Fairborn falls to 8-10 overall, 5-6 in the Greater Western Ohio Conference’s American South division. The team’s next game is at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 1 at Fairborn’s Baker Fieldhouse against Riverside Stebbins.

Carroll wins GCL tourney

RIVERSIDE — The Carroll boys bowling team finished first in the Greater Catholic League Co-Ed tournament on Sunday Jan. 22, beating Kettering Alter in the finals. Jacob Schoening and Quinn Goodpaster earned All-Tournament team honors.

The Carroll girls team finished second, losing to Alter in the finals.

Patriot girls defeat CJ

DAYTON — The Carroll girls varsity high school bowling team defeated Dayton Chaminade Julienne, 1,688 to 1,465. Camryn Joseph led Carroll with a 350 two-game series. The Patriots, now 3-8 overall, 3-7 GCL Co-Ed, will host Fairborn at 4 p.m. today, Feb. 1 at Poelking Wilmington Lanes.

Skyhawks on Gem City Sports Network

FAIRBORN — The Gem City Sports Network will be broadcasting Friday’s Feb. 3 boys varsity high school basketball game between the Fairborn Skyhawks and the host Riverside Stebbins Indians.

Jackets sink Ohio Valley

VIENNA, W. Va. — Regina Hochstetler scored a game-high 16 points and Cedarville University teammate Breanne Watterworth scored 14 to lead the Yellow Jackets women’s college basketball team to a 73-46 win Jan. 28 over Ohio Valley.

With the win, Cedarville is now 11-8 overall and 4-3 in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference. In the first of a four-game road swing, Cedarville plays Ursuline College in Pepper Pike next. That game is set for 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 9. Ohio Valley falls to 6-13, 0-7 G-MAC.

Kinley joins Dynamo

DAYTON — The Dayton Dynamo Football Club, of the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL), is excited to announce the addition of Xenia defender Austin Kinley to the team’s 2017 roster.

Kinley, from Xenia, is currently a redshirt freshman on the Wright State University men’s soccer team. He appeared in 19 matches for the Raiders, last season. He is a 2015 graduate of Xenia High School. He was previously a member of the Columbus Crew Soccer Club Academy.

The club plans to announce more roster additions, as well as returning player announcements, over the next several weeks. The NPSL regular season in set to kick off in early May. The club will play in multiple preseason friendlies in April. The 2017 official schedule has not yet been released. Season tickets are on sale now.

Rowing indoor program starts today

DAYTON — The Dayton Boat Club is offering a two-month indoor rowing program this winter for adults looking to burn calories, build strength and endurance, meet new friends, and learn the mechanics of the sport of rowing from professional coaches and experienced rowers.

The program starts with two sessions of instruction 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 1, and 9-11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 4, at the Downtown Dayton YMCA, 316 N. Wilkinson St. To register or to request more information, fill out the online form at daytonboatclub.org/adult-winter-erging.html.

JYSB registration under way

JAMESTOWN — The Jamestown Youth Softball and Baseball organization will hold registration opportunities for the upcoming 2017 season from Jan. 11 through Feb. 15 for all leagues. A new division, Ram-Ball, will be offered as a way to create interest in baseball and softball for youngsters ages 3 and 4. Late registration will run through March 3, but includes an additional late fee.

Costs are as follows: Ram-Ball (co-ed, ages 3-4) $35; T-Ball (co-ed ages 5-6) $75; 8U Coach Pitch (ages 7-8), 10U (ages 9-10), 12U (ages 11-12), and 15U (separate from OHSAA, season begins after the high school season ends) $75.
