SANTEE, Calif. — Susan Randall of Beavercreek finished in third place Jan. 28 at the 2017 USATF 50-kilometer Race Walk National Championships.
A combined 21 male and female competitors race walked the 50-kilometer distance. Randall won the women’s 40-44 age category, placed third among the women’s race walkers and finished sixth overall.
Katie Burnett, of El Cajon, Calif. won the women’s event in 4:26.37, followed by Erin Taylor-Talcott of Owego, N.Y. in 4:29.33 and then Randall.
Randall set a 9-minute, 29-second average pace for each mile of the 31.1-mile event.
Her time of 4 hours, 54 minutes and 12 seconds qualifies her for the Pan American Cup race to be held May 14 in Lima, Peru. This will be her fifth Pan American Cup team.
Randall, has raced in Pan American Games in 2009 at El Salvador where she helped win Team USA the team bronze medal, in 2011 in Columbia, 2013 in Guatemala, and 2015 in Chile where she was the women’s 50K silver medalist.
Before she goes to Peru, Randall will next be competing the World Masters Indoor championships, March 17-24 in Daegu, South Korea.
