LEBANON — Jordan Reese took medalist honors with a Cedarville University school-record tying 140 (-4) to carry the Yellow Jackets to a runner-up finish in the inaugural Great Midwest Fall Invitational.

Reese shot 71-69 at the 6,561 yard, par 72 Shaker Run Golf Club to win by two shots. His three-under par final round was a career best.

“Jordan (Reese) made three big putts on his last three holes to win the tournament by two shots,” said CU Head Coach Ryan Bowen. “Even though Jared (Hoelzen) played as an individual, he beat almost everyone in the tournament by finishing third overall.”

The 140 total also equals the 36-hole school record first set by Scott Aker, who shot 67-73 at the 2005 Ohio Dominican Fall Classic.

Trevecca rallied to win the tournament with a 308-288-596 total. Cedarville was just one shot back at 304-293-597 and Alderson Broaddus was third with 304-299-603.

Taylor Holt carded 77-73-150 to place 11th. John Sandlas had a 152, which included an 80 to go along with a career-best 72, that tied for 12th.

Other CU scores were posted by Carter Ehms, 76-79-155, and Jeremy Royer, 82-86-168.

Freshman Jared Hoelzen, playing as an individual, placed 3rd overall with 73-72-145.

Others playing as individuals were Hayden James, 85-78-163, and Jacob Adams, 79-89-168.

“It was disappointing to lose the tournament by just one stroke, but I am very pleased with how the team played,” said CU Head Coach Ryan Bowen. “We knew we had to improve our team score in round two to have a chance to win, and the team did exactly that, improving by 11 strokes.

Reese’s final round 69 ties for the eighth-lowest in school history. It’s the 11th time a Yellow Jacket player has shot 3-under par for 18 holes.

CU’s second round 293 tied for the 7th-lowest team 18-hole score in school history. The all-time best is 285.
