City joins fight against hunger

Herald News Report

FAIRBORN –The City of Fairborn has joined the fight against hunger and is aiming to help families in need.

Fairborn Mayor Dan Kirkpatrick presented a Feed Ohio Proclamation to Jerry Hamilton, Feed Ohio representative, and Patricia Nelson, during the Tuesday, Sept. 6 regular council meeting. Feed Ohio is a 100 percent volunteer effort timed in conjunction with the National Day of Service, which fell on Sunday, Sept. 11, according to a press release.

Feed Ohio is a month-long intensive collaboration between faith-based groups, houses of worship, community service organizations and businesses — regardless of religious affiliation — to gather non-perishable food and monetary donations to be distributed through local food banks across the state.

Now in its fourth year, Feed Ohio is a statewide volunteer humanitarian effort to provide food assistance to individuals and families in need within the State of Ohio. Donations to the effort serves local communities. When an individual gives funds to Feed Ohio, their items go directly to your local food bank, lending a hand to the members of communities that need it most.

Food contributed by Fairborn citizens during the 2016 Feed Ohio campaign will be donated to the Fairborn Fish Food Pantry, located at 1167 Broad Street. For further information or to make an online donation, go to www.feedohio.org.
