XENIA — The Xenia High School football team named Missy Nix and Kent Anderson as the team’s Honorary Coaches for Friday’s Sept. 2 home football game against Kings Mills Kings. The game is at 7 p.m. tonight at Doug Adams Stadium.
Missy Nix
Missy Nix of Shawnee Elementary is originally from Jamestown and is the daughter of Neil Bradds and Gloria Mayfield. Nix has been married to Sean Nix for almost 21 years. They have two sons, Alec, age 20, Jack, 15 and a daughter, Valery, 18.
Nix Graduated from Miamisburg High School and graduated from Wright State University in 1995 with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education grades 1-8. She received a master’s degree from Wright State University in 1999 in science. Nix has taught fourth graders for 17 years.
Her favorite Xenia Memory is getting the opportunity to build relationships with fellow staff members and students over the years and takes pride in being a member of Xenia Christian Center.
The senior football players chose Nix as honorary coach because of the impact she has had on their development, her commitment to Xenia, and her commitment to excellence.
Kent Anderson
Kent Anderson and wife LuAnn have one daughter, Lindsay and husband Jasen Dodds with granddaughter Linley, 4 and his younger daughter, Lori and her husband Jon Durket.
Anderson is a 1980 graduate of Xenia High School, where he was an all-league performer in both golf and baseball. He attended Wilmington College where he attained a bachelor’s degree in 1984 in secondary education. He obtained a master’s’ degree in school administration from the University of Dayton in 1994 and a second master’s’ in geological science from Wright State University in 2004.
He has been a teacher and coach for more than 33 years, teaching physical education and health at Xenia High School. He has been the head boys basketball coach at Xenia High School the past seven years, winning three league titles. Anderson also coaches JV golf and JV baseball. He has coached over 1,300 games in six different sports over the course of his career.
His favorite Xenia memories are the relationships he has formed with his former and current players, watching them succeed as adults and growing their own families.
