Fairborn Fire Chief Mike Riley awarded life-saving ribbons Thursday for the actions five Fairborn firefighters/paramedics took on Monday, April 25 to save the life of Fairborn citizen Peggy Weddington. Fairborn Mayor Dan Kirkpatrick also awarded them gold mayor’s coins, which are only given to those who save a life in Fairborn.
Peggy Weddington (left) had reported having a difficult time breathing. Her daughter and neighbor Robin Weddington (right) was found performing CPR on her upon the crew’s arrival. Crews discovered that Peggy Weddington had an impalpable pulse, driving them to perform intravenous access and cardiac monitoring, as well as other medical actions, before they transported her to the hospital.
Robin Weddington said her mother spent time in the hospital after the event, but is currently recovering. Robin Weddington was recognized by Riley and Kirkpatrick for her actions as well.
