FAIRBORN — The Fairborn City School District saw 24 individuals interested in its open superintendent position after closing the application Friday, Jan. 29.

Applicants include FCS’s own Director of Business Affairs Ed Gibbons and Fairborn High School Principal Gene Lolli.

The next step in the process is narrowing down the amount of applicants from 24 to a range between six and eight, which will take place Thursday, Feb. 4 during a FCS Board of Education executive session following the regular meeting.

“We’re going through the resumes and details,” Board President Andrew Wilson said. “Each of us (members) will make our own list.”

These candidates will then be interviewed Wednesday, Feb. 17 and Thursday, Feb. 18. The selection will come down to three possible superintendents, who will meet with community members and undergo another round of interviews as February comes to an end and March begins.

The new superintendent will be named within the month of March, and FCS officials said the individual will be on board and ready to begin by the first day of the new school year.
