ENON — Senior Cheyanne Caswell has been selected as the Daughters of the American Revolution Good Citizen of the Year for Greenon High School.
The Good Citizen award goes to a student (male or female) who displays dependability, service, leadership and patriotism. In addition to the award itself, Caswell completed a 550-word essay to be considered for the DAR scholarship to a college of her choice.
As a GHS student, Caswell participates in many activities, including swimming, cross country, track, National Honor Society, Student Council and Spanish Honor Society. She is also active in her church and has volunteered at the Enon Apple Butter Festival as well as a local nursing home while she works part-time at the Enon Vet Hospital.
She plans to attend college on an Air Force or Army ROTC scholarship, majoring in political science, and then attend law school.
“I would like to continue serving my community and country throughout my life,” Caswell wrote in her application for the award.
She was recommended for this recognition by Guidance Counselor Melinda Shong and English Teacher Jennifer Tropp.
