XENIA — The Greene County Ohio Historical Society will host several events during the month of November. The events will be hosted at 74 W. Church St., Xenia.

Historic churches

A self-guided tour of historic churches in Xenia will take place from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 1. A map will be available at the historical society’s Xenia office until Oct. 31. Participants are: Christ Episcopal, 63 E. Church St. (built 1907); Cornerstone Bible, 152 N. Detroit St. (built 1909); Evangelical United Methodist, 195 W. Third St. (built 1860s); Middle Run Baptist, 1000 E. Church St. (founded 1822); and Zion Baptist, 565 E. Main St. (built 1898). This event is free.

Antique appraisal

An antique appraisal at the Brantley Carriage House will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 5. Experts from Garth’s Auctions of Delaware, Ohio, will be on hand to appraise or identify items that are brought in. The cost is $10 for up to three items per person. All proceeds benefit the society.

World War II veteran

A general meeting featuring the story of a local World War II veteran will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 9. This meeting is free and open to all, and will feature veteran Harold Warren, who served during the war in the 370th Regimental Combat Team, 92nd Infantry Division, called the “Buffalo Soldiers.”

Warren has lived in Wilberforce for more than 50 years and holds degrees from Georgetown University and the University of New Mexico.
