FAIRBORN — The Fairborn Parks and Recreation Division will host a number of activities for each member of the family focused on the fall season throughout the following month. Activities include some aimed at gardening, crafts as well as seasonal traditions.
Kicking off the month of October, the division will host “Here Comes Winter: Fall Bulb Planting and Winterizing Your Lawn and Garden,” in which participants can learn more about fall bulb planting, and preparing lawns and gardens for the winter season. Children between the ages of 5 and 9 years old are invited to participate in “Fall Leaves Fall” in which they will explore Community Park while searching for signs of seasonal change. Attendees will practice and learn skills to identify trees no matter what the season is, and will have the opportunity to make their own take-home field guide to document what they find. Adults are welcome to stay with their children during this session and to come along exploring. The event takes place 5 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 14, at shelter #2 in Fairborn Community Park, 691 E.
