XENIA_ The Greene County Republican Party is offering scholarships from two funds to local high school students and recent graduates.

The Greene County GOP Student Scholarship Fund will help provide funding for tuition and books. Applicants must be Greene County residents and can be recent graduates, high school seniors, or home schooled.

The Gene Fischer Memorial Scholarship will help provide funding for seniors or recent graduates who have chosen to enter law enforcement after graduation.

Both are non-partisan and open to Greene County residents.

“This is our first year and we are looking at a minimal goal of $10,000,” said Bruce Hull, vice chair. “It probably comes out to $2,000 a piece. We want to do this long term and hope to raise more money over the years. We’re community oriented and what better way to do that than show our support through a scholarship. We’ve thought about this for years and we just decided to do it.”

Applications are available at all Greene County high school counselor’s offices or on Facebook at GreeneCountyOhioGOP.

Donations are being accepted through the Greene Giving Community Foundation. To donate on-line visit https://greenegiving.org. In the drop-down box, choose “specific account/charity” and type in the large box below “Gene Fischer Memorial Fund” or “Greene County Scholarship Fund.”

To donate by mail, send checks to The Greene County Community Foundation dba Greene Giving, 941 W. Second Street, Ohio, 45385. Donations are tax deductible. For more information, contact Hull at [email protected] or the Greene County Republican Party at 937-474-8798.
