Blood drive set for April 11

FAIRBORN — The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Fairborn is holding a community blood drive from 3-7 p.m. Monday, April 11 at 3080 Bell Drive.

Everyone who registers to donate with receive the “Giving is Good” T-shirt.

With the pandemic receding the community is returning to social events and outdoor activities that distract from donating. The Easter holiday period is an especially challenging time for maintaining the blood supply because of spring breaks, vacation travel, and holiday closings.

Type O blood remains in low supply. CBC is urging community members to set a goal to donate three times in 2022. Consider donating platelets, plasma or double red cells.

Blood donation requirements: Donors are required to provide a photo ID that includes their full name. Past CBC donors are also asked to bring their CBC donor ID card. Donors must be at least 17 years of age (16 years old with parental consent: form available at www.givingblood.org or at the Dayton CBC and mobile blood drive locations), weigh a minimum of 110 pounds (you may have to weigh more depending on your height), and be in good physical health. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) changes blood donor eligibility guidelines periodically. Individuals with eligibility questions can email [email protected] or call 937-461-3220.
