Golden Eagles athletes honored

BELLBROOK — Linebacker Ben Borszcz was named the Southwestern Buckeye League Southwestern Division defensive player of the year. He was joined on the first team by offensive lineman Caden Barr, linebacker Ethan Fryman, defensive back Braeden Gedeon, defensive lineman Taylor Jordan, and defensive lineman Alex Petry.

Offensive lineman Davis Hagler, and running back/defensive back JR McCormick were second-team selections, while fullback/linebacker Ashton Ault, and quarterback/cornerback Alex Westbrock received honorable mention.

Emily Weslow was a Southwestern Division first-team selection in volleyball, while Rachael Cordonnier, and Lexi Crockett were on the second team. Elana Heebsh, and McKenna Melton received honorable mention.

Girls soccer player Bailey Sedlak was co-player of the year in the Southwestern Division and was joined on the first team by Sydney Hollingsworth. Alicia Bevins, and Alyssa Lemos were second-team selections, while Mackenzie Pittman, and Lydia Travis received honorable mention.

In boys soccer, Reid Heppner, and Logan Hessinger were named to the Southwestern Division first team, while Bryce Ferrin was named to the second team. Spencer Bretland, and Preston Savey received honorable mention.

Takumi Ford, Bryce Levine, and Caleb Newlon were cross country first-team Southwestern Division selections, while Alex Crane, and Kyle Van Pelt were second-team choices.

Madison Bretland, and Avarie Faulkner were cross country first-team Southwestern Division selections, while Ally Jiovani, Fiona Lin, Kayla Paul, and Emily Pelfrey were named to the second team.

Golfers Zach Crampton, and Ryan Wehner were first-team Southwestern Division selections, while Kane Ely, and Mayne Lemon were named to the second team. Gabe Hine received honorable mention.

There were no girls golf all-league teams listed on the SWBL website.

Nikita Arora was first-team All-Southwestern Division as first singles tennis player. Anika Arora was second team at second singles, while the first doubles team of Gigi Painter and Ramya Pandrangi were honorable mention.

Intensive officiating school offered

CINCINNATI — An OHSAA-approved 25-hour basketball officials training course is available for those who would like to officiate area basketball games this season. In its 27th year, the Southwest Ohio Basketball Officials School is hosting six days of training at six different locations throughout the Cincinnati area.

Cost is $125 per student — includes all instruction, books, materials, continental breakfast and lunch for all day session, testing fee, OHSAA permit fee and insurance package. Relatives of XHS 1921 team sought

XENIA — The Xenia High School Athletic Hall of Fame is seeking any relatives of the school’s 1921 undefeated football team. The committee plans on inducting the team among its 2019 class of inductees. The 1921 team finished the season at 9-0 and recorded eight shutouts, outscoring their opponents 222-7.

The early press coverage of the team mentioned most players by their last names only. Here’s an alphabetical listing of team members that the committee has on hand (first names, if available in parentheses):

Football all-session tickets on sale

COLUMBUS — Two all-session ticket options are on sale for the 2019 OHSAA football state championship games, which will be played at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium at Johnson Controls Hall of Fame Village in Canton, Dec. 5-7. The Stadium Club all-session ticket package includes access to the indoor club level during each game and outdoor premium cushioned seats. The Stadium Club package also includes complimentary admission to the Pro Football Hall of Fame adjacent to the stadium. The Stadium Club packages are $140 each. Also on sale are all-session general admission tickets, which do not include indoor access or complimentary Hall of Fame access. They sell for $85 each. GABP Clubhouse tours available

CINCINNATI — The Cincinnati Reds Hall of Fame & Museum presented by Dinsmore is once again offering off-season clubhouse tours of Great American Ball Park. The two-hour Major League Clubhouse Tours include the Reds and visitor’s clubhouses, visitor’s dugout and more exclusive areas.

Tours are available each Saturday at 12:30 and 2:30 p.m. The tours run weekly until March 14, 2020. (No tours on Dec. 7 due to Redsfest). The Clubhouse Tour also includes admission to the newly-renovated Reds Museum. Space is limited and tours often sell out in advance. Private or small group tours are also available.
