FAIRBORN — Santa Claus is coming to the city to spend time with local children, light the community Christmas tree and officially kick-off the holiday season Friday, Dec. 1 during the annual Fairborn Hometown Holiday Parade and Tree Lighting.

Santa’s Candy Cane Lane will open from 4-6 p.m. at 5/3 Commons, on the corner of Main Street and Grand Avenue. It invites families to participate in free crafts and coloring, story telling and other kid-friendly activities. Children are encouraged to have their Christmas lists completed by the event as Santa and Mrs. Claus will additionally be available in the Candy Cane Lane area to listen to the wishes of local children.

Carriage rides, taking and dropping passengers off at two locations on Main Street, will also be offered from 4-6 p.m. The Fairborn Civic Band will play the holiday music at Central Avenue and Main Street.

The parade is set to begin at 6 p.m., starting at Second and Main Streets, traveling east on Main Street through the downtown to end on Central Avenue in front of the Fairborn Area Chamber of Commerce building. Santa will be the last passenger on the parade as he is set to light the community Christmas tree, a Fairborn tradition. He will be available for a short time afterward.
