Five bands performing July 3, 4

FAIRBORN — Five bands will provide the entertainment for Fairborn’s annual Fourth of July festivities with three bands taking the stage at the Main Street Block Party Monday, July 3 and two more popular groups performing at Community Park prior to fireworks July 4.

“Forsaken” a classic/modern rock band with a female lead singer will kick off the music 5:15-6:30 p.m. Monday on the Main Street stage. The group plays everything from Fleetwood Mac to Van Halen. They will be followed by “Rock It 88” 7-8:15 p.m. Playing oldies hits from the 60’s and the 70’s, the group has 30 years of playing experience. Members include Mick Slone, Gary Oswalt, Roy Swanson, Chuck Beck and Brian Lampton.

Headlining the evening show is “Southbound,” whose resume includes performances at Cincinnati’s Great American Ball Park, numerous local festivals and U.S. veterans’ benefit events. The Greene-County based group features songs by The Eagles, Allman Brothers, Lynyrd Skynyrd, the Doobie Brothers and the Beatles.

Preceding the fireworks display at Community Park July 4, the Wild Mustaings, a veteran group of entertainers from Springfield, will perform 5-7:30 p.m. Offering the best of country and a blend of oldies, the band has played at fairs, festivals and clubs throughout Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana. It recently performed at the famed Fiddler and Steel Guitar Bar in Tennessee.

The events headliner is the Inside Out Band, which will close out the evening’s entertainment 7:30-9:45 p.m. The group is comprised of musicians who have played in numerous bands throughout the country.

In addition to bands, carnival rides and a variety of food vendors, a grand fireworks display will culminate the two days celebrating the nation’s independence.
