FAIRBORN — “Remember the rewards of today, the promises of tomorrow, and never forget yesterday, the memories of our past.”
After four years of homework, reading assignments, science projects, athletic and club activities — along with all the social aspects of being a high school student — 230 individuals will finally march across the stage Friday, May 26, with their high school diploma in-hand, transitioning from a Fairborn High School “student” to an “alumni.”
Three students will participate in the ceremony as Class of 2017 valedictorian and salutatorians including: valedictorian is Noelle Townsend and salutatorians are Marissa Foster and Melissa McDonald.
The remaining students have various plans after earning that diploma, including dedicating time of service to the military and continuing their education in college, among other activities. Several will stay local, attending Sinclair Community College, Wright State University, University of Dayton.
Others will still attend schools in Ohio but with less proximity to the City of Fairborn, such as Kent State University, The Ohio State University, Cleveland State University and Ohio University, among others. Meanwhile, others will attend schools much further away, spreading the Class of 2017 to various corners of the nation, including Wisconsin, Florida and Indiana.
The commencement ceremony is slated for 7 p.m. Friday, May 26 at the Wright State University Nutter Center, 3640 Colonel Glenn Highway.
