Skyhawks win for Joan

FAIRBORN — Fairborn High’s softball field was officially named after Joan Dautel, on Monday, April 3 in Community Park, and the Skyhawks blasted Trotwood-Madison, 18-0.

Taylor Rice tossed a perfect game while striking out 12 of the 21 batters faced. Jordan Wilson, Chloe Becraft, Riley Davis, Sophia Ceyler, Rice, Destiny Ferrigno, Bryanna McLean and Ashlyn Baker each had a hit, with McLean, Ferrigno and and Ceyler clouting doubles. Megan George stole three bases, while Rice and Kelsie Coleman each stole a pair of bases in the win.

Fairborn (2-2) will play at Trotwood-Madison at 5 p.m. today, April 4.

‘Creek volleyball defeats Davidson

BEAVERCREEK — The Beavercreek boys volleyball team claimed a win over Hilliard Davidson on Saturday. Parker Mikesch recorded nine kills, Noah Buell dished out 21 assists, Michael Abbitt served up two aces, Luke Kleinfelder and Ricky Le each had seven digs, and Zach Lohner had four blocks in a 25-23, 25-11, 25-20 straight-set win.

The Beavers (3-1) will next host Kettering Fairmont at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 6.

Skyhawks-Beavers to play at Fifth Third Field

DAYTON — Greater Western Ohio Conference and Greene County foes Fairborn and Beavercreek will play each other at Dayton’s Fifth Third Field, the regular home of the Dayton Dragons professional minor league baseball team, in a 1 p.m. afternoon contest on Saturday, April 22.

Another GWOC matchup is scheduled to follow the Beavercreek-Fairborn contest: Greenville and West Carrollton are slated to play at 4 p.m.

All games are free to attend. Gates will open 30 minutes prior to the first game played that day. High schools may provide their own public address announcers, broadcasters, cheer squads, and national anthem singers.

Dragon’s tickets on sale for BHS Baseball

DAYTON — The Dayton Dragons are selling $12 game tickets to help support the Beavercreek High School baseball program. CSU Auxiliary Corps clinics, auditions

WILBERFORCE — The Central State University Auxiliary Corps will hold clinics and auditions for their cheerleading, mascot, dancers, color guard/flags, majorettes (baton) and banner girls in April. CSU is seeking individuals who will excel in academics, set high standards of character and behavior for the student body, as well as represent the student body as entertaining squads, stimulate school spirit, grow, bond and unite in spirit as a team.

Xenia taking Hall nominations

XENIA — The Xenia Athletic Hall of Fame committee is now accepting nominations for its 2017 induction class. An individual, team, coach or a community contributor can be nominated. These nominations can be for those athletes, teams, coaches, and community contributors who were associated with Xenia Central, Xenia High School, Xenia East, and/or Spring Valley.

Nominations will be considered from all eras. The last day for the committee to accept nominations will be April 26. Forms can be obtained by going to the Xenia Community Schools official website, then to the Athletics link, and then to the Athletic Hall of Fame link. Xenia hosting recruiting seminar

XENIA — The Xenia athletic dept will be holding a FREE recruiting seminar at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday April 5: “Guiding the College-Bound Athlete” put on by Dynamite Sports. Parents of athletes grades 7-12 are encouraged to attend. This seminar will cover NCAA Division I to small-college opportunities for athletes. The seminar will inform parents and athletes how to get recruited, how to get scholarships, how to setup visits to schools, and when to get started. Each family that attends will receive a ACT/SAT Prep DVD. Parents and athletes from other districts are welcome as well!

Beavercreek Fastpitch signups

BEAVERCREEK — Signups for the 2017 Beavercreek Fastpitch softball season continue, with practice for 8U, 10U and 12U leagues set to begin in April. Registration forms were sent home with Beavercreek students in first through fifth grade. Middle school and high school students can still obtain registration forms in their school offices. Practice for Beavercreek Fastpitch 14U and 18U league teams will begin after the scholastic softball season has ended, in approximately mid-May.

BEAVERCREEK — Beavercreek Parks, Recreation, and Culture Department is currently accepting registrations for Summer Adult Softball for coed and men’s teams.

The season runs from April 17 to July 25 with all games played at Rotary Park. Lions Club league signups online

BELLBROOK — The Bellbrook Lions Club would like to announce registrations for the summer baseball, softball and T-ball programs for children ages 6-15. Parents may register their children by visiting the Lion’s Club sports website at

The program will begin with practices in the month of April, with games beginning in May. Softball practice will begin in May, with games ending in mid July.

Tai Chi classes offered

BEAVERCREEK — Improve your health, balance and manage stress by enrolling in Beginning Tai Chi for Health and Wellness class offered by Beavercreek Parks, Recreation & Culture. Tai Chi is an ancient Chinese tradition that, today is practiced as a graceful form of exercise. It involves a series of movements performed in a slow, focused manner and accompanied by deep breathing. Class is scheduled for Wednesdays, April 5 – May 13, 6-7 p.m. at C. I. Team seeks elite player

COLUMBUS — The Ohio Elite – Slack 11U baseball program is looking to add one player to round out its 2017 roster. The team is based out of Central Ohio and plays a very competitive statewide schedule beginning April 1. CSU Youth Football Camp

WILBERFORCE — The annual Central State University Youth Skills Football Camp will take place Thursday, June 15 on the CSU campus. The Central State University Department of Athletics is committed to providing an exceptional camp experience for campers of all ages and skill levels. Campers will have the opportunity to learn more about the sport of football from CSU coaches & players while improving their skills. The camp is open to youth ages 7-15. Cost is $30 per individual. Registration deadline is June 12, but walk-up registration will be welcomed on the day of the camp.

UPBL seeks players, sponsors

PHOENIX — The National Urban Professional Baseball League will be launching four new Urban Baseball League teams in the spring of 2018. The league is open to baseball players 17 years old and older who have baseball talent, the participants will be paid. We will offer an eight week fall league in Arizona, September through October 2017, tryouts for the teams will start in May of 2017.
