CEDARVILLE — Cedarville University junior Carsyn Koch is the 2017 United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division II Women’s Indoor Track & Field Midwest Region Athlete of the Year.

Award winners were determined by a vote of USTFCCCA member coaches following a nomination period.

The junior from Washburn, Maine assembled another record-setting season this winter.

Koch is presently ranked No. 1 in the country in the 800 meters (2:05.93) , part of the No. 2 rated distance medley relay squad (11:29.57), and No. 3 in the mile (4:41.95).

She owns the school record in all three events, as well as the 400 (56.15) and 500 meters (1:15.36).

Koch is the defending NCAA champion in the indoor and outdoor 800 meters. She holds the fastest outdoor 800 meter time in Division II history and qualified for the 2016 U.S. Olympic Trials in the event.

Cedarville is competing this week in the NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships, March 9-11, in Birmingham, Ala.
