FAIRBORN — An 8-year-old girl was killed in a crash that occurred early Friday morning near Wright-Patterson Air Force Base.
According to a release from the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Alexa Miller, of Huber Heights, was a passenger in a vehicle driven by Patricia Breeding, 59, also of Huber Heights, west bound on State Route 235 when Breeding lost control on the snow-covered roadway, crossed the double yellow line and was struck by an oncoming vehicle.
Miller was taken to Dayton Children’s Hospital where she was pronounced dead. The highway patrol said the girl was in a booster seat with the standard seatbelt latched. Breeding was taken to Miami Valley Hospital with serious injuries and was listed in critical condition as of Monday afternoon. It was unknown if she was wearing her seltbelt.
The other vehicle involved was driven by Richard Trantanella, 55, of West Alexandra. He was wearing a seatbelt and was injured, according to the patrol.
Alcohol and/or drugs do not appear to be a factor in the crash, the release said.
The accident, which occurred around 6:40 a.m. between Haddix and Sandhill roads, is still under investigation.
