GCCOA to host Holiday Soiree

Greene County News

XENIA — Greene County Council on Aging is holding a Holiday Gift Soiree and Open House Tuesday, Dec. 6 and Wednesday, Dec. 7.

The event runs 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday at the Xenia Community Center, 1265 W. Second Street. On Wednesday, the open house will continue 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Visitors are invited to stroll through the “Winter Wonderlands”of past Christmases, listen to live holiday music, eat festive treats, and shop a selection of homemade gifts.

Treats include hot cider and coffee, cookies, shortbread, spiced nuts, candies, granola, breads, fudge, chocolate-covered pretzels, caramel corn, and jams, including some items that are gluten-free.

There’s more. A large dollhouse will be on display, along with the Old Toy Shoppe, Vintage Collection, and many angels. Browse hand-crafted holiday items in the Country Room — for gift-giving or for keeping — like decorated trees, ornaments, painted signs, sports team gifts, rustic and vintage decor, patriotic items, yarn and textile creations and jewelry.

And don’t forget about pets at home. Toys and treats for dogs and cats will be available in the Furry Friend Corner.

A gift basket door prize, along with a donated quilt, will be raffled off during the event. All proceeds from the Soiree will benefit the Council’s Charitable Account with the Greene County Community Foundation, to be used for programs and services for future seniors and caregivers.

The entire community is invited.
