DAYTON — Carroll High School has hired Rachel Krabacher as head coach of its girls volleyball program.

Krabacher was an outside hitter for the University of Dayton women’s volleyball team from 2009-2012, and was named the Atlantic 10 Conference’s Player of the Year in her junior and senior seasons, as well as a first-team all-conference selection and NCAA All-American Honorable Mention selection.

She played professionally for Volleyball Frances-Montagnes, in Saignelegier, Switzerland in 2013 and 2014, and was the team’s captain and top scorer.

More recently, she’s served as a Chemistry Lab teacher at UD, and a Graduate Student Researcher at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Fairborn. Krabacher has a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Chemical Engineering at the University of Dayton.

“I am really looking forward to continuing my coaching career at Carroll High School,” Krabacher said. “The administration and staff’s excellent support system for the program, coupled with the desire and drive of the returning players, provide what I believe to be an excellent base for a successful program. I am excited for these pieces to come together to build upon the culture and success of Carroll volleyball.”

Carroll finished with an 8-14 overall record (3-7 in the Greater Catholic League Co-Ed North) last season. Sophomore Mary Kate Fleisher is the team’s top returning player. Fleisher ranked among the division’s top-20 in attack efficiency and was a second-team GLCN selection.

“We are very pleased to welcome Rachel Krabacher to Carroll High School. I am certain that coach Krabacher will be a great ambassador for our girls volleyball program. Her commitment and passion for the game, along with her desire to build a program, is a winning combination that will strengthen our volleyball program and support our efforts to provide student success in athletics and academics,” said Carroll Athletic Director Scott Molfenter.

The 2017 Patriot Volleyball season begins August 23 against West Carrollton High School at Carroll High School.
