Cedarville nabs NCAA’s no. 7 seed

CEDARVILLE — The Great Midwest Athletic Conference Champion Lady Jackets will be the No. 7 seed in the Midwest Region when the NCAA Division II Volleyball Championship kicks off next week.

Cedarville, 26-8, is slated to face a familiar foe in the first round on Dec. 1 with a date against No. 2 Findlay, 21-9, for the third time this season.

The eight-team regional will be hosted by Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) champion and No. 1 seed Ferris State in Big Rapids, Mich. on Dec. 1-3.

The Lady Jackets and Findlay split two four-set outcomes this fall.

Cedarville defeated the Oilers in its home opener on Sept. 20 before a season-high 1,047 fans in the Callan Athletic Center.

Findlay returned the favor on its home court on Nov. 8.

In other region opening round match-ups, the host Bulldogs, 28-5, will play No. 8 and Great Lakes Valley Conference Champion Truman State (Mo.), 18-16.

No. 4 Rockhurst (Mo.), 27-6, faces No. 5 Saginaw Valley State (Mich.), 19-11, while No. 3 Lewis (Ill.), 25-7, takes on No. 6 Ashland, 23-10.

The NCAA Division II Elite Eight will take place on Dec. 8-10 in Sioux Falls, S.D.
