XENIA — Beavercreek’s Marissa Ashbrook and Carroll’s Abby McNamara were first team All-Ohio selections, the Ohio Scholastic Soccer Coaches Association announced.
Ashbrook, a senior defender, was on the Division-I first team after scoring 14 and goals and notching a pair of assists for the Beavers, who went 15-3-3 and advanced to the regional semifinal before losing to eventual state runner-up Springboro.
McNamara, a senior midfielder, was a D-II selection and was also named the area’s D-II player of the year after recording 13 goals and seven assists for the 10-4-4 Patriots. Carroll lost in a district semifinal match to Bellbrook.
Bellbrook junior goalkeeper Bekah Vine was a second team D-II All-Ohio selection. She led the Southwestern Buckeye League with 12 shutouts and helped the 14-4-4 Golden Eagles win a district title.
Beavercreek senior forward Vince Young made the D-I All-Ohio second team. He scored 16 goals and had seven assists for the 19-2-1 Beavers, who lost in the state semifinal to eventual runner-up Columbus St. Charles.
In D-II, Carroll senior defender Mekhi Jones and Bellbrook senior defender Shane Niemeier were second-team selections. Jones had five goals and three assists, while Niemeier had three goals and two assists.
Yellow Springs senior forward Joe Plumer was a D-III second-team selection. He was third in the Metro Buckeye conference with 69 points. He had 23 goals and 23 assists.
All of the aforementioned players were named to the All-District team as well, according to the OSSCA.
Beavercreek junior forward Dominic Calabrese, who scored the winning goal in the regional final against Springboro, was also on the All-District team. He notched 15 goals and 14 assists.
Carroll junior midfielder Cameron Najarian was a D-II All-District choice after notching five goals and nine assists. Bellbrook Coach Scott Downing was the coach of the year after leading the Golden Eagles to an 11-5-2 record.
Fairborn’s Lauren Thomas was on the D-I All-District team, after recording 18 goals and two assists. Beavercreek Coach Steve Popp was the coach of the year.
In D-III, Greeneview senior midfielder Sabrina Saunders was an All-District selection. Her stats were not available.
