CEDARVILLE — Cedarville University tips off its 2016-17 men’s basketball season tonight, Friday Nov. 11 by hosting the Fifth Annual Don Callan Classic and calling the evening ‘Military Appreciation Night.’
Free admission will be granted to anyone displaying a valid military I.D. with pre-game festivities honoring the men and women who serve the country.
On the court, the Yellow Jackets play host to Truman State (Mo.) at 7:45 p.m.
The first contest at 5:30 p.m. features Maryville (Mo.) against Trevecca Nazarene (Tenn.).
On Saturday, Truman tangles with Trevecca at 3 p.m. with Cedarville battling Maryville at 5:15 p.m.
The Yellow Jackets return all but one player from last year’s team that finished 14-15. They are picked to finish third in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference in a pre-season poll conducted by the coaches.
Head Coach Pat Estepp enters his ninth season at the helm with a career record of 155-93.
A total of 16 games are scheduled for the Callan Athletic Center this winter with six coming in the first three weeks of the season.
That list includes visits by Walsh (Nov. 17), Ferris State (Nov. 22), Ohio Christian (Nov. 30), and Wilberforce (Dec. 3).
