Cedarville players recognized by G-MAC

CEDARVILLE — Hanna Harris is the 2016 G-MAC women’s soccer defensive player of the year and is joined on the first team by Hannah Atkinson and Hannah Whicker.

Harris, a senior goalkeeper from Danville, Pa., started all 14 matches in which she played for the 7-10-1 Lady Jackets with a 5-6-1 record, a 1.15 goals against average, and five shutouts.

Harris graduates with multiple school goalkeeper records to her credit including games played (72), started (71), wins (40), shutouts (29), and goals-against average (0.89).

She joins 2013 recipient Carly Gregory as CU players chosen G-MAC defensive player of the year.

Atkinson, a freshman forward from Wheaton, Ill., played in 17 games with 15 starts. She led Cedarville in scoring with seven goals and two assists for 16 points.

Whicker, a sophomore defender from Crawfordsville, Ind., started all 18 games. She contributed one assist and helped the back line post six shutouts.

Bex Velloney, a defender from Chesapeake, Va., joined Atkinson on the G-MAC freshmen team.
