ENON – The Enon Primary School K-1 Club and Indian Valley Intermediate School PTO joined forces on Friday, Oct. 28 as they sponsored a Halloween Trunk-or-Treat event as the sun was setting at Indian Valley Intermediate School, 510 S. Xenia Drive.

This year, teachers, parents and several local organizations faced a record-number of Halloween beggars as they distribute tasty treats for the kid-friendly version of tailgating. Hundreds of beggars got a head start on Halloween as they scampered about filling their pumpkins and bags with an assortment of candies from opened car trunks and truck tailgates that packed the parking lot at the school.

Michael Jackson’s “Thriller,” bone -rattling screams and witches’ cackles resonated from several of the 36 vehicles that were decorated fittingly for the ghostly occasion. Most of the volunteers donned a variety of colorful getups and costumes as well.

The Greenon Local PTOs, alike other organizations across the country, sponsors the Trunk-or-Treat event each year which has become an alternative to the customary door-to-door candy collecting. According to PTO organizers, the family-friendly event takes the Halloween beggars off the streets to the safety of a school parking lot where parents can keep a watchful eye on their goblins, super heroes, princesses, ghosts and witches.

It proved to be a “one-stop shop” in Enon for Halloween treats.
