FAIRBORN — The City of Fairborn is once again in the running for Tank of the Year, for an opportunity to be featured in a calendar.
The honor is given by TNEMAC, a company that supplies paint and other products for industrial purposes. Based on votes, one tank is selected as tank of the year, then the 11 runners-up along with tank of the year are featured in the TNEMAC calendar. As of Thursday, Oct. 6, Fairborn was in eighth place by number of votes.
Anyone can vote for the tower by visiting www.tankoftheyear.tnemec.com then looking through the cities alphabetically by picture. Only one vote is needed per email, so there is no need to visit the site daily or re-register. The process is simple, only requiring a name and email address.
The tank in Fairfield Park was submitted for Tank of the Year in 2012 and finished in the top 12. It was highlighted as May 2015’s tank in the TNEMAC calendar. Fairborn officials hope to see the newly painted Southwest tank, located in the Home Depot parking lot across from Meijer on Colonel Glenn Highway and visible from I-675, featuring the new branding in the TNEMAC 2017 calendar.
