Praise god for a basket of fresh apples

1 Timothy 1:17 “Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen.”

Do you ever want to just break out in an exclamation of praise to God? If you don’t, why not? Our God is worthy of all praise. There is so much to be thankful for and so many blessings to enjoy. Even in the middle of a deep crisis there are little things that should turn our hearts toward God and prompt us to glorify Him.

Paul interrupted his correspondence to his friend, Timothy, with words of praise to God. After explaining how God had saved his soul even though he was the worst of sinners, Paul couldn’t contain himself. He erupted into praise: “Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen.” These words burst from his heart and exploded onto the paper as he wrote about God’s goodness.

The great God who reaches down to sinners is the King of all the ages. He has no beginning or end and dwells in unapproachable light. He created the constellations, teaches the waves of the sea where to stop on the beach, directs the winds in their patterns, and superintends every nation on the earth.

It is overwhelming for the human mind to process the enormity of our Father in heaven. Yet He also cares about the smallest details of life too.

The other day Dad and I visited Jackson’s Farm Market near Xenia, OH, on our way home from Abigail’s volleyball game. We browsed the roadside stand and took in all the produce of the autumn season. The baskets of apples caught my eye and I approached to make my selection. There were so many different kinds of these delicious fruits available. Throughout the United States alone there are 2,500 varieties grown. Each one has a different color, a unique taste, and a distinctive texture. How amazing is that?

Our God, Who superintends the motions of the whole world, chose to create multitudes of types of a single fruit for our enjoyment. If He planned for this wide medley of something as small as an apple, then surely He cares about the minuscule details of my life.

We loaded up with a variety of fresh apples to take home and enjoy, and I just couldn’t help it! As I crunched into the crisp tartness of a Cortland, my taste buds exploded with the flavor and my heart welled up with praise. My great God has everything, everywhere in heaven and earth under His control, and yet He even cares about bringing enjoyment to His people with a simple basket of apples.

Do you have reason to praise the Lord? If not, look up into an enormous starry sky, take a stroll along the seaside, or visit your local farmer’s market and take a bite of one of the many crisp, juicy apples. Soon you too will be shouting, “Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen.” — Love, Mama
