CEDARVILLE — John McGillivray was honored for his 42 years of coaching soccer at Cedarville University as part of the 2016 Homecoming festivities on Monday, Oct. 3.

A brief ceremony was held between the women’s and men’s matches on Oct. 1 during which John and his wife, Bonnie, were given several gifts.

Making the presentations were Athletic Director Dr. Alan Geist, Assistant Athletic Director Wes Stephens, Administrative Assistant Kristen Conn, former women’s player Kelly Wise Bender, and former men’s player Tom Fite.

McGillivray was presented a plaque to commemorate his longtime contribution to Cedarville University and Yellow Jackets soccer. And, as an avid cyclist, he’s also received a new bicycle.

Bender and Fite accumulated and delivered to the McGillivray’s a folder of letters written by former women’s and men’s players, friends and colleagues.

McGillivray totaled 375 career victories while coaching the Yellow Jackets men from 1974 through 1997, as well as the Lady Jackets from 1998 through 2015.
