Local DAR chapter hosting meeting

Fairborn Daily Herald

ENON — The Rebecca Galloway Chapter DAR will hold its first meeting of the year at the Enon Community Historical Society’s Research Center by the historical Adena Mound in Enon 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 17.

The date is significant as it is the start of Constitution Week, which runs Sept. 17 – 23 when all Americans celebrate the document which outlines the land’s laws and peoples rights.

One hundred forty nine years ago in Philadelphia, the United States’s Founding Fathers wrote the document that is called the Constitution.

This Constitution outlines the laws which govern the nation’s democracy, and through the years, as times change, there have been amendments. The first, almost immediately, became the Bill of Rights, which most people recognize – separation of church and state, freedom of speech, right to bear arms, right of assembly, etc.

The Constitution was and is the most important set of laws ever developed, according to the Rebecca Galloway Chapter DAR. From September 17 – 23, public law decreed by the president of the United States, is designated at Constitution Week.

It is fitting and proper that this document receive recognition by every American, according to the chapter. Look for tributes in area libraries, proclamations by area mayors and celebrations by local DAR chapters. Remember the Constitution of the United States of America guards citizens liberties and explains the principles of a government that is limited and ruled by law.

Help the Rebecca Galloway Chapter DAR reaffirm its loyalty to the Constitution and to the patriots who made it possible for the freedoms that are guaranteed with this document.
