FAIRBORN — The Horizon League announced its 2016-17 men’s basketball schedule. Each league member will play an 18-game slate beginning in late December and concluding in late February. The Little Ceasar’s Horizon League Men’s Basketball Championship will take place March 3-7 in Detroit at Joe Louis Arena.

As usual, the Wright State University Raiders will play each Horizon League foe twice. WSU starts the league slate with games in Detroit in late December before coming home to host Cleveland State and Youngstown State the first weekend of January followed by a trip to Wisconsin. January ends with Detroit and Oakland at home and a trip to Valparaiso and Illinois Chicago.

February will feature five home games with Northern Kentucky, Milwaukee, defending League Champion Green Bay, Valparaiso and UIC and three road games at Youngstown State, Cleveland State and Northern Kentucky.

With the five Friday and Saturday night league games, the Raiders will play a total of eight games on those nights. Released on Aug. 2, the home non-conference schedule includes foes such as Toledo and Miami as well as the Wright State Invitational, a multi-team event that includes WSU, North Dakota, North Florida and CSU Bakersfield.

The Horizon League features seven men’s basketball head coaches in either their first or second year at the helm.
