ATLANTA, Ga. – The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference has named Central State University’s Clim Robbins as the Special Teams Player of the Week and running back De’Michael Jackson as Newcomer of the Week.

Robbins combined for 152 yards of return yardage in Saturday’s 31-19 setback to Dayton. Despite Dayton’s attempts to kick away from Robbins, he totaled three kick returns for 55 yards. His most impressive play came on an 80-yard punt return for a score in the fourth quarter. Defensively, the 5-foot-9 senior from West Orlando, Fla. finished with a game-high three pass breakups and two solo tackles.

Jackson, a 6-foot running back from Louisville, Ky., found the end zone twice in the fourth quarter with a 1-yard run and 3-yard run. He finished with 64 yards on the ground and hauled in four receptions for 15 yards in his first game as a Marauder. Returning to the field after injuries cut his 2015 season short, Jackson expressed appreciation for his coaches and teammates.

“I am thankful for my teammates who work hard and allow me to make plays,” said Robbins “It is great to be playing at 100 percent again and I thank God for the opportunity to be out on the field again. I am very grateful to our coaching staff for putting me in the position to help our team. We are all working very hard and we look to bounce back with a good performance this week.”

Other Central State players nominated for this week’s conference honors include linebacker Deonate Gary and receiver Marquis Wells.

The Marauders will be in action this week when they travel to historic Soldier Field to play in the Chicago Football Classic against SIAC opponent Clark Atlanta (0-1).
