Presale tickets for Xenia available
XENIA — Presale tickets for Xenia’s home football game against Kings Mills Kings, Friday will be available at Xenia Trophy Sports beginning today. Tickets will be available Thursday and Friday at the high school and during lunch at Warner Middle School for students only at lunch.
Tickets are $6 for adults and $4 for students. All tickets at the gate are $8.
Fairborn soccer tops Springfield
FAIRBORN — The Fairborn girls soccer team beat Springfield, 6-1, Aug. 29. Lauren Thomas had her second hat trick for the Lady Skyhawks (1-2-1) including the game’s first two. Regan Diehl scored twice and assisted once, while Dani Dierker added one goal and an assist. Daleanna Abboushi and Isabella Carone also had assists for Fairborn, which led 4-0 before Springfield scored.
In their first match Aug. 22, the Lady Skyhawks tied Springfield Shawnee, 3-3. Thomas scored all three goals while Dierker (two) and Heather Robinson had assists.
Oakwood golfers top Bellbrook
BELLBROOK — All four Oakwood golfers broke 40 Aug. 29 to defeat Bellbrook, 145-173, at Sugar Valley Country Club.
Raif Foster shot 40 to pace the Golden Eagles. Will Martin shot 41, Joey Derrico 45 and Sean Ulrich 47.
Skyhawks lose pair in volleyball
OAKWOOD — Fairborn jumped out to a first-set win but couldn’t win another, losing 23-25, 25-10, 25-10 in a match against Oakwood Aug. 27. Kayleigh Finlayson had 23 digs and 10 passes. Taylor Rice and Cloe Snyder each had six kills.
In another Aug. 27 match, Clayton Northmont beat Fairborn 25-16, 25-23. Defense and serving was the focal point for Fairborn, which had seven kills. Finlayson and Taylor Soulati each had six digs while the team had eight total aces.

CU welcomes new team buses
CEDARVILLE — Cedarville University welcomed the arrival of two 40-passenger buses to transport Yellow Jacket athletic teams beginning with the 2016-17 season. CU purchased a pair of 2017 Ameritrans M2-425 buses from Creative Bus Sales in Elkhart, Ind. The exterior artwork was done by Signworks of Indianapolis.
Among its many features, each chassis includes a 306-inch wheelbase, a 300-horsepower Cummins ISB 6.7L diesel engine with automatic transmission, and air brakes.
Broussard to headline Raider tip-off
FAIRBORN — ESPN basketball analyst Chris Broussard will be the featured speaker at the Second Annual Raider Tip-Off Premiere Thursday, Oct. 6. The Premiere acts as the launch to the 2016-17 basketball season and includes a VIP reception, silent auction, dinner, introductions of the men’s and women’s basketball teams and the guest speaker.
The VIP reception will begin at 6 p.m. with the main program starting at 7 pm on the Nutter Center arena floor. The Athletic Department will release more information on the VIP and General Admission tickets in the coming weeks.
Central State names induction class
WILBERFORCE — The 2016 Hall of Fame Luncheon will be held at Country Club of the North 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 14. All those planning to attend must RSVP prior to the event and purchase tickets on or before Friday, Oct. 2.
Five individuals and four teams make up this year’s class: Leonard “Tony” Blaine ‘62, John E. Day ‘71, Eric Love ‘83, Dr. Paul Nitz, James Rollins ‘96, 1960 & 1962 men’s cross country teams, 1983 football team and the 1991 women’s track & field team. Rain wins again
DEGRAFF — Rain and lightning once again forced Shady Bowl Speedway management to cancel Saturday, Aug. 27 racing program. The Main Event Racing Series was to have been on hand to run a 100 lap feature for the super late models. No make up date has been set for the cancelled program.
The Bowl will not be racing on Saturday, Sept. 3. This will give the locals drivers and fans to attend Speedfest at Winchester, Ind. The Bowl will also be shut down on Saturday, Sept. 10. This date marks the last race ever at Columbus Motor Speedway after seventy one years of racing allowing fans and drivers one more chance to see racing at the Obetz oval. The next race at the Bowl will be on Sunday, Sept. 11.
Drifting Series heads to Kil-Kare Raceway
WESTFIELD, Ind. — The Midwest Drift Union will bring the third round of its Championship Series to Kil-Kare Raceway on Sept. 17 in Xenia. The MDU was founded in 2010 as a Midwest regional feeder series with the intention of advancing the area’s top drifting competitors to the professional level. Last season, the top-3 drivers were rewarded with a Formula Drift Pro 2 competitors license.
