Beavercreek and Xenia hit the field Thursday night for a televised season opener for the teams. The captains of Beavercreek football team received The Backyard Battle Trophy from Xenia Mayor Marsha Bayless and Beavercreek Mayor Bob Stone.
Beavercreek student Chase Baxter gave the Offensive Player of the Game award at the Backyard Battle to Xenia’s Meechi Harris and Beavercreek’s Noah Corrigan.
Defensive Player of the Game were Xenia’s Jonny Shampton Jr., and Beavercreek’s Nick Thurston, who received their award from Xenia student Chance Sunderstrom.
