Local named to dean’s list

UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio — John Carroll University announced dean’s list for the Spring 2016 term. The following Greene County students were named to that list: Caylan Fazio of Beavercreek and Chloe Ruggiero of Spring Valley.

Cinibulk makes list

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Peter Cinibulk of Bellbrook made the dean’s list at the Rochester Institute of Technology for the spring 2016 semester. Cinibulk is studying computer science.

Students are named to the dean’s list if their term GPA is greater than or equal to 3.400 at least 12 credit hours.

Spring dean’s list

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio — Wittenberg University recognized local students that maintained a 3.5 or higher grade point average for the 2016 Spring semester and earned a place on the dean’s list. The following students were recognized: Lindsey Andrew of Dayton; Bradford Arledge, Catherine Bartell, Aaron Losey, Kyla McGee, Jack Snider all of Beavercreek; Grace Huffman of Xenia and Shaelyn Sakos of Fairborn.

Eaddie graduates

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Rochester Institute of Technology celebrated its 131st Academic Convocation in May. Diplomas were distributed to graduates following the event at separate ceremonies held by each of RIT’s nine colleges and two academic centers. Terrence Eaddie of Beavercreek received a BS in biochemistry from RIT’s College of Science.

Alsahli presents work

FROSTBURG, M.D. — Frostburg State University student Waleed Alsahli of Beavercreek presented research at the annual College of Liberal Arts and Sciences Undergraduate Research Symposium in May 16.

The project, One Communication Leadership Lab, A World of Experiences: Supporting Communication and Leadership Competencies through Student-led Experiential Learning at FSU, was presented alongside FSU students and performed under the tutelage of Dr. Elesha Ruminski and Christine Willingham.

The fifth Undergraduate Research Symposium showcased outstanding student research and artistry from 16 academic departments for Frostburg faculty, staff and alumni.

MU named leaders

OXFORD, Ohio — Miami University students named Summer SOULs. The SOULs are “informed, resourceful guides who assist new students and families throughout Miami’s summer orientation program.”

The following local students have been named SOULs: Kellie Dinapoli and Ashleigh Resch both of Beavercreek.

Sellers graduates

TROY, Ala. — Robert Sellers of Beavercreek graduated from Troy University during summer semester. Sellers attended TROY Online and graduated with the master of science in counseling and psychology from the College of Education. The Summer Semester includes graduates from the Troy, Ala., campus. Term 5 graduates include students at TROY’s campuses in Dothan, Phenix City and Montgomery, Ala., along with teaching sites outside of Alabama and online.

MU students study abroad

OXFORD, Ohio — With about 38 percent of Miami undergraduate students studying abroad for credit by the time they graduate, Miami is ranked 2nd among public doctoral institutions nationwide for students studying abroad.

Local Miami University students who studied abroad during the spring 2016 semester include: Nicole Christian of Beavercreek and Kailee Colter both of Beavercreek will study in Luxembourg.

When we include students on internships, non-credit and Service-Learning programs, international students who study in a third country, and all other overseas programs completed by graduate and undergraduate students, nearly 45 percent of Miami students study abroad.

Rickels earns degree

CONWAY, S.C. — Alicia Rickels of Xenia graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science during commencement exercises Aug. 5 at Coastal Carolina University. Rickels was among 360 candidates for graduation at the HTC Student Recreation and Convocation Center on campus.

MU awards scholarship

OXFORD, Ohio — Jordan Neff-Estle was one of more than 40 students to receive an award from Miami University’s architectural and interior design departments. Neff-Estle was awarded the AIA Ohio Foundation scholarship for the 2016-2017 academic year. Neff-Estle of Xenia is earning a bachelor of arts degree.

School reunion set

YELLOW SPRINGS — Yellow Springs Hight School Class of 1966 is returning for its 50th reunion Friday, Sept. 2.

The Class of 1966 will be gathering in Yellow Springs to celebrate their milestone 50th class reunion. There were 66 graduates in the Class of 1966 and five deceased. Members will be traveling from 14 states and 24 different cities.

Activities begin with an informal meet and greet at Ye Ol Trail Tavern Friday, Sept. 2, then joining the Bryan High Alumni Association All Years Reunion at the Bryan Center early afternoon on Saturday, Sept. 3 followed by an evening gathering for the class at the Bryan Center Auditorium, and concluding with a brunch buffet at Mills Park Hotel on Sunday, Sept. 4. Also planned are optional organized activities, tours, and golf outings.

Per the tradition of the Bryan High Alumni Association, the class celebrating its 50 year reunion has an opportunity to speak at the All Classes Reunion. Representing the class will be Tucker Viemeister — industrial designer and junior class president and Michael Hughes.
