Wright-Patterson Air Force Base hosting event to promote an end to bullying

Greene County News

WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE — Wright-Patterson Air Force Base and community education partners will host a 1960s-style Stop Bullying—Give Peace a Chance event intended for youth 2-5 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 2 at the base’s Religious Education Facility, located in Bldg. 229 at 648 Chapel Lane.

The event is being organized in response to increased reported bullying incidents in some of the local school districts to give youth on base and in local communities an opportunity to speak up in an effort to help them understand that a peaceful environment supports a better learning environment.

Proposed activities include youngsters performing skits about bullying prevention techniques, Play Fit (exercise/nutrition education activities), and face and poster painting stations. Presentations will be given by persons representing the Ohio Parent Teacher Association to foster awareness about new education standards and assessments being introduced in the state of Ohio. Wright-Patt Integrated Delivery System (base helping agencies) will be setting up table exhibits to share information about resources available for families and school-aged children.
