WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE — The United States Air Force Band of Flight held their first “SongWrighting” competition that ended June 15. The band’s panel of judges selected a winner, Dr. Schneata Shyne-Turner, management and program analyst, Air Force Security Assistance and Cooperation Directorate, Air Force Life Cycle Management Center.

Shyne-Turner is not a novice musician. She is a songwriter, director and singer.

“Both my husband and I have an extensive music background,” she said. “[We] have collaborated on writing several songs, and both are actively involved in the music ministry at New Season Ministry in Huber Heights.”

AFBF’s Systems Go and Wright Brass will perform Shyne-Turner’s winning song, “Back Where I Belong,” at the band’s concert starting 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 6 at the Fraze Pavillion in Kettering.
