One dead after crash near Clifton

CLIFTON — A crash on State Route 72 near the village of Clifton resulted in one death and an injury to another person Tuesday afternoon.

Sgt. Merrill Thompson from the Springfield Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol WDTN TV that a vehicle ran a stop sign and pulled into the path of a vehicle driving south on State Route 72. The man who ran through the stop sign was pronounced dead at the scene. The woman driving the southbound vehicle was taken to a Greene County hospital.

The accident occurred just north of State Route 343.

Shawna Hendrickson, a woman who lives near where the accident occurred, told WDTN that she blamed speed for the accident.

“It’s a horrible day,” she said. “It’s a sad day. I wish people would slow down through here.”
