Lady Marauders win regular season finale
JACKSON, Tennessee — The Central State Lady Marauders led from beginning until the end in a 63-57 win over the Dragons of Lane College on Monday night.
Ghameerah McCullers and Jordyn Bond led the CSU offense with 12 points each. Kourtni Perry came off the bench to finish with eight points and seven rebounds.
Winning three of its final four games, CSU finishes the regular season with a 13-13 overall record and a 6-10 mark in SIAC play.
Lane finishes the season with a 5-21 ledger and a conference record of 5-11.
Central State will have a full week to prepare for the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Postseason Tournament in Birmingham, Alabama. The Lady Marauders will play on Tuesday at 2:30 pm (CST) against the No. 6 seed. Their opponent will be determined later this week.

Marauders rally to OT win
JACKSON, Tennessee – Central State came back from an 11-point second half deficit to beat Lane, 76-65, in overtime on Monday night.
It was a one-sided overtime as CSU outscored a struggling Lane offense, 16-5, in the extra period and went on to win, 76-65. Gilmore scored 9 of CSU’s 16 points in extra time as CSU celebrated the end of the regular season with a victory.
CSU took advantage of Lane’s 18 giveaways, gaining a 29-14 edge in points scored off turnovers.
Sterling Gilmore finished with a season-high 27 points. Sean Cassidy, Jr. scored 19 points and Hosie Smith, Jr. recorded 15 points and eight rebounds.
With the win, the Marauders finish the regular season with a 11-14 overall record and a 9-9 mark in Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference competition. CSU also finishes the year with a perfect 2-0 mark in games decided in overtime.
Lane caps of the regular season with a 16-12 ledger and a 12-6 mark in conference play.
Central State will wait to see where they fall in the seedings for next week’s SIAC Tournament. The opening round of the tournament begins on Monday in Birmingham, Alabama.

Haller named Athlete of the Week
INDIANAPOLIS — Wright State sophomore Karoline Haller has been selected as the Horizon League women’s tennis Athlete of the Week for the week ending February 21, it was announced Tuesday by the league office.
Haller (Bekkestua, Norway) won both her matches at first singles, and teamed with Linsey Verstrepen to win both matches in second doubles, last week. On Saturday, February 20, Haller won 6-3, 6-2 in singles and 6-1 in doubles as the Raiders defeated Toledo, 5-2, at the South Regency Tennis Center.
Later that day, in another 5-2 win at South Regency against Evansville, Haller won 6-1, 6-1 in singles and 6-1 in doubles.
On the season, Haller is 10-9 in singles play.
Wright State (5-1) returns to action at 4 p.m. on Sunday, February 28, with a match against the Miami University RedHawks in Hamilton.
Softball
Susor Madness Player of the Week
Wright State sophomore outfielder Honnah Susor has been selected as the College Sports Madness Horizon League Softball Player of the Week, it was announced on Tuesday.
Susor (Oregon Clay) hit .429 (6 for 14) in five games last week with four RBI and three runs scored as the Raiders went 3-2 at the Chattanooga Spring Classic. In a 6-4 win over Indiana Purdue Fort Wayne on February 19, she drove in two runs, scored twice and recorded a stolen base.
Against University of Tennessee-Martin on February 20, Susor was two for three with a RBI, and in a 5-2 win over Dayton later that day, she was two for three with a triple, a RBI and a run scored.
On the season, Susor is hitting .370 with five RBI and four runs scored and has a .438 on-base percentage.
Wright State (4-6) heads to Birmingham, Alabama, this weekend for the Samford Tournament. The Raiders will take on Tennessee Tech (11 a.m. Eastern) and Samford (1:30 p.m.) on Saturday, February 27, and will face the same two teams on Sunday, February 28.

Meyer Horizon League Pitcher of the Week
INDIANAPOLIS — Junior Mark Meyer of the Wright State baseball team has been selected as the Horizon League Pitcher of the Week for the week ending February 21, it was announced Tuesday by the league office.
Meyer (Jeffersonville, Ind.) picked up two wins in relief last week as the Raiders swept a four-game series at Elon. He pitched a total of 4.1 innings, allowing just two hits and no walks while striking out six.
In the season opener for both teams on Friday, February 19, Meyer earned the win as WSU rallied for a 9-7 victory, scoring once in the fifth and six times in the seventh to erase a 7-2 deficit. In that game, Meyer faced four batters and retired each of them, three coming on strikeouts.
Meyer then picked up the win the series finale on Sunday, February 21, pitching three shutout innings as Wright State rolled to an 11-2 victory. He gave just two hits while fanning three.
Wright State, which is off to its best start ever in school history at 4-0, heads back to North Carolina this weekend for a three-game set at nationally-ranked North Carolina State, facing the Wolfpack for single games on Friday (3 p.m.), Saturday (3 p.m.) and Sunday (1 p.m.).

Fairborn hosting recruiting seminar
FAIRBORN — A seminar to prepare parents and athletes for the recruiting road ahead — complete with all its bumps — will be held at 7 p.m. on Monday, February 29th at Fairborn High School.
“Guiding the College-Bound Athlete” will provide information and topics for every student-athlete in middle and high school, and their parents, to educate and prepare them for opportunities and careers after graduation. Many student-athletes who aspire to play at the college level are not familiar with the ins and outs of academic requirements and eligibility as they need to be in order to pursue their goals. The program designed by Rick Wire, President of Dynamite Sports, a Pennsylvania-based corporation, is the father of nine-year NFL veteran Coy Wire.
This seminar will provide families with information about the availability of athletic scholarships and the realities of the college recruiting process.
Wire created the Dynamite Sports Educational Recruiting System, which combines academic preparation and athletic training with marketing and recruiting strategies to navigate through the process. The plan provides direction to high school athletes and parents, and staff development training and resources to high school coaches and counselors to help all parties make knowledgeable choices and decisions in college athletics and recruiting. Wire will present an hour-long seminar at 7 p.m. in the Fairborn High School auditorium. Interested participants are asked to come early, if possible, to receive a number of handouts and watch a POWERFUL pre-program video.
