Greene County News Report
XENIA — A Greene County man accused of setting two fires at a house in the 2400 block of Tennessee Drive in Xenia pleaded guilty to an aggravated arson charge Wednesday.
The guilty plea from Edwin Allen Jr., 58, of Xenia, was part of a negotiated plea deal in which one of two charges of aggravated arson for the November incidents was dismissed, according to court documents.
According to those same documents, the prosecution will recommend a five-year prison sentence as part of the deal. Allen would also have to register as an arson offender and would be responsible for restitution in the case.
Allen was arrested in November after fire investigators observed evidence that two fires at the house were likely to have been set intentionally.
The statutory maximum sentences for the charge would be eight years in prison and a $15,000 fine, in addition to other restitution.
Allen will be sentenced for the charge March 10 by Greene County Common Pleas Judge Stephen Wolaver.
