Girls Basketball

Golden Eagles defeat Valley View

The Bellbrook Eagles continued their dominant march through the SWBL Southern division as they jumped on Valley View early in Thursday night’s matchup and coasted to a 51-22 win to remain undefeated at 14-0. Leading 31-5 at halftime coach Jason Tincher had already started wholesale substitutions and all girls on the roster received significant playing time. Senior center Gabby Ozoude had 16 points during that first half and played only a minute or two in the second half to finish with 20 points and eight rebounds, and sophomore point guard Cassidy Hofacker managed to score 12 points and garner five steals in her short time on the floor.

Valley View’s cause was not helped when their leading scorer, Hunter Stidham, was unable to play due to an injury.

The Eagle reserves also enjoyed a dominating victory while bumping their season record to 13-1.

The girls now look to wrap up the division championship on Saturday when they travel to Franklin. The varsity game is scheduled for 1:15 p.m.

Ambassadors win over Woodward

XENIA — Not much was posted on the Metro Buckeye Conference website, but we know that Morgan Adams scored six points for Xenia Christian in Thursday’s 60-26 win over Cincinnati Woodward. The host Ambassadors led 35-17 at halftime and limited the Bulldogs to nine points the rest of the way.

Xenia Christian (12-3, 4-2 MBC) will host Pleasant Hill Newton in a nonleague game at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Eagles down Yellow Springs

YELLOW SPRINGS — Danielle Horton came off the bench to score a team-high 10 points, but visiting Middletown Christian came away with Thursday night’s win, 61-24.

Yellow Springs (0-16, 0-7 Metro Buckeye Conference) plays at Cedarville at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 16.
