Skyhawks grounded by Rams
FAIRBORN — Fairborn suffered a tough loss Monday night against Trotwood-Madison. The Skyhawks struggled throughout the game to score, but some bright spots could be seen in junior post Kirsten George who scored her career high of eight points, seven rebounds and a block. Fairborn found other ways to improve, with a great group effort on the boards. Senior post Courtney Mustard governed the boards ripping down 10 rebounds. Evelyn Oktavec joined in and snatched down eight rebounds. Jana Brown-Griffith also grabbed seven rebounds, six of those seven coming from offensive boards. The Skyhawks will play their first divisional game at Miamisburg at 6 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 19.

Fairborn falls in overtime
Fairborn boys basketball lost in overtime against Trotwood-Madison, 72-78, Monday night. Fairborn had balanced scoring with four players in double digits: Jordan Pumroy with 18, Branden Lilley 13, Brandon Easterling 11 and Ryan Profitt 10. Trotwood is now 4-0 and Fairborn drops to 2-2. Fairborn plays its next game Friday at Lebanon.

Beavercreek Coy edges Xenia Warner
Xenia Warner’s 8th grade boys basketball team lost to Beavercreek Coy 59-35. Blake Carson scored 10 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Bucs. Alex Sparks added eight, Gavin Gerhardt and Leo Howard each scored five, E.J. Wilson, Trent Jordan and Andrew Pollander scored two points, and Nate Saner scored one for Warner. The Bucs next play at home on Wednesday.

Yellow Jackets surpass 100-points mark
CEDARVILLE — Host Cedarville surpassed the 100-point mark for the first time this season in Monday night’s 113-81 win over Urbana University.
Kayla Linkous led the Yellow Jackets with 22 points scored, and teammate Christina McQueen added 21 points, in the win. Other Cedarville players in double-figure scoring were Kaysie Brittenham with 16 points and Abby Wolford with 10.
Kennedy Boggs led the Blue Knights (3-3) with 22 points.
Cedarville has won five straight games and six of their last seven. They head way out west to Anchorage, Alaska for their next two games: Dec. 19 against Alaska Anchorage; and Dec. 20 against Alaska Fairbanks. Both contests are part of the Alaska Anchorage Hoops Classic.

MDU announces Kil-Kare race date
WESTFIELD, Ind. — The Midwest Drift Union announced its four-race regional schedule, with a season-ending date taking place at Kil-Kare Raceway in Xenia.
The MDU will host events in four states over a five-month time period, beginning May 1 with an event at Gateway Motorsports Park in Madison, Ill. Round two will take place June 25 at Lucas Oil Raceway in Indianapolis, Ind., with round three set for Aug. 20 in Detroit, Mich.
The Kil-Kare date is Sept. 17.
The MDU was founded in 2010 as a Midwest regional feeder series with the intention of advancing the area’s top drifting competitors to the professional level. Last season, the top-3 drivers were rewarded with a Formula Drift Pro 2 competitors license.

Masterson to headline First Pitch Banquet
FAIRBORN — The Wright State baseball program has announced that major league pitcher and Beavercreek native Justin Masterson will be the keynote speaker at the 12th annual First Pitch Banquet on Friday, Feb. 5, 2016, on the main arena floor in WSU’s Nutter Center.
Justin Masterson is a 2003 graduate of Beavercreek High School where he starred in baseball and basketball. He then attended Bethel College in Mishawaka, Ind., for two seasons before transferring to San Diego State University for his junior year. There he pitched for Hall of Famer Tony Gwynn and was drafted by the Boston Red Sox in the 2nd round of the 2006 MLB draft following the college season. He shot through the minors and made his MLB debut on April 24, 2008.
The First Pitch Banquet features a sit-down dinner along with a silent auction. The cost for the event will be $70 per person or a VIP table for 10 guests costing $1,000. The VIP table includes recognition during the program and admission to a pre-event meet and greet with Masterson. The doors will open to the public at 6:30 p.m.
