FAIRBORN – With costumes and haunting decorations throughout town, Fairborn is the place to be for ghoulish Halloween festivities. Citizens and visitors are invited to celebrate this spooky time of year at its annual Spooktacular Parade and costume contest, Friday, Oct. 23.

Individuals who wish to participate in the costume contest need to arrive at the Fairborn YMCA, 300 South Central Avenue, by 6 p.m. for the judging. Prizes are awarded in various age groups from newborn through adulthood. Special competitions include best family costumes, overall best couple, overall scariest costume and a best animal costume for pets.

Following the costume contest, the parade will leave the YMCA at 7:30 p.m. to travel down Central Avenue to Main Street, ending in front of the downtown festival stage.

The Mayor’s Beautification Committee will also award prizes to the top three homes for best Halloween decoration. Trick-or-treat in Fairborn takes place on 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31. Questions regarding the parade or costume judging can be responded to by calling 937-754-3090.
