JAMESTOWN — Logan Test ran for two touchdowns, returned a kickoff 75 yards for another, and came up with the key fumble recovery to set up Bryce Wilson’s game-winning 20-yard field goal as time expired, as host Greeneview survived Springfield Northeastern’s second-half comeback for a 31-28 win, Friday night at Don Nock Field.
Test scored on TD runs of 17 and 16 yards in the first half, then quarterback Collin Matt scored his own TD run, this one from eight yards out. Combined with three Wilson extra point conversions, the Rams appeared in command with a 21-0 lead.
Northeastern responded with a nine-play touchdown drive, capped by a Bo Davis 4-yard scoring run, but then Test took the Jets kickoff and raced 75 yards for his third TD of the night.
The Jets’s drive may have helped them realize they could be effective running the ball against Greeneview (4-2), because they ran and ran a lot in the second half. That ground success led to Dylan Hand’s score from 10 yards out, Hand’s TD pass to Mac Davis and Turner Hocter’s 34-yard TD run. Hand’s two-point conversion pass to Davis tied things up.
Then, with Northeastern (1-5) at midfield and just over a minute left to play, the Jets ball carrier attempted a reverse lateral as he was going down, and Test recovered the errant pitch for a fumble recovery on Northeastern’s 44-yard line with 44 seconds to go.
Seven plays and a Rams timeout later, Wilson booted the game winner from 20 yards out to win the game.

Xenia drops homecoming game
XENIA — In about 15 seconds Xenia’s homecoming football game went from promising upset to disappointing defeat Friday.
That’s about how long it took Springboro’s Keegan Brown to corral a tipped Xenia pass and return it 90 yards for a touchdown and turn a quickly dissipating lead into a comfortable margin as the Panthers topped Xenia 52-26 at Doug Adams Stadium. That pick-six came as it appeared the Bucs were poised to cut into a 31-20 Springboro lead early in the second half. But as QB Danny Naylor scrambled and tried to flip the ball to a receiver, it was tipped and fell into the hands of Brown, who raced down the sidelines virtually untouched for a decisive score.
Making matters worse was that the Bucs lost Naylor to an injury on the play.
Xenia (3-4, 1-1 GWOC South) had taken a 13-0 lead six minutes into the game, first driving 80 yards down the field with a mix of slants and timely runs, culminating in a seven-yard pass from Naylor to Rocky James for a 7-0 lead. Then on Springboro’s third play, Ryan Johnson jumped a receiver’s route, picked off a pass and scurried 42 yards in front of the Springboro bench for a TD. The extra point was blocked but Xenia still led.
Springboro (6-1, 2-0 GWOC South) then scored 17 unanswered points, but Naylor and James again connected for a TD play — a 13-yard pass — to take a 20-17 lead. Springboro scored with 32 seconds left and then following an interception, scored on a 33-yard pass to take a 31-20 halftime lead.
Unofficially Naylor finished with 117 passing yards before leaving the game. Backups Jonny Shampton Jr., and Warren Mahar played in relief.

The Fairborn offense looked good in spurts. They had 150 yards passing in the game, but stalled drives and a few key mistakes kept the Hawks from gaining much momentum.
