YELLOW SPRINGS – The Yellow Springs Police Department is looking for a stabbing suspect after a man was found wounded approximately 5 a.m. Monday, Sept. 28 in the 500 block of South College Street near Gaunt Park.

Police said a 52-year-old man was walking near the baseball field when he was approached by another man.

The man cut the victim, who was taken to the Greene Memorial Hospital for treatment. The cuts are minor, according to the department.

Police said this type of crime is unusual in the Yellow Springs area, and investigators said they have little to go on as to why the individual was attacked. A knife was found at the scene, but the department is unsure if it’s connected to this crime.

“Really because of the lighting and stuff out here we really don’t have much in the way of a suspect,” Chief Dave Hale of the Yellow Springs Police Department said. “It was clearly dark. There was some fog and stuff that rolled in so it was not very clearly lit. So the information we have is pretty sketchy right now.”

Police are waiting to speak with the victim to develop a possible motive.
