RUNNING

Bev Sword’s Turkey Trot set for Thanksgiving Day

JAMESTOWN — The Silvercreek Township Fire Department will hold its annual 5-kilometer run on Thanksgiving morning. Funds from the Bev Sword’s Turkey Trot event will not only help enable the fire department to provide services for the Jamestown area, but this year the funds will also help create a college fund for Dylan Swisher, the nephew of Bev Sword.

Bev Sword, an Emergency Medical Services Captain who passed away in July, often led the fundraising effort. The fire department is asking area businesses to help sponsor the event. All proceeds from this year’s run will go to the Dylan Swisher College Fund.

Entry fee is $30, which includes a free T-Shirt if you register before Nov. 1. The event will start at 9 a.m. at Seaman Park in Jamestown, next to Greeneview High School.

Runners can enter at the Silvercreek Township Fire Department building, 28 E. Xenia St., in Jamestown, or register the day of the event between 8-8:45 a.m. Visit Facebook.com/BevSwordsTurkeyTrot for more information.
