Farmer’s Market offers fall produce

Herald News Report

FAIRBORN – Attending a farmers’ market is more than buying fresh fruits and vegetables, meats and cheeses, flowers and plants and/or baked and jarred items – Farmer’s markets are a social experience where conversation is welcome, recipes can be shared and tips on food preparation are often provided.

The Fairborn Farmer’s Market is still active and offers an opportunity to connect the community and draw visitors to a location where shoppers can buy healthy local foods. For nearly seven months of the year, beginning mid-spring until early fall, the sellers at the market provide shoppers with ever changing produce creating repeat customers throughout the selling seasons.

The market typically begins mid-to-late April with arugala and spinach being the first crops. Now, visitors to the market will find apples. Corn is still available along with gourds, squash, eggplant, plums and fall’s staple produce, the pumpkin. If citizens are looking for mums, there are a number of colors from which to choose available at the market. Miniature decorative straw bales are also available for purchase.

The Fairborn Farmers’ Market is held from early morning to mid-afternoon on Wednesdays at Fifth-Third Commons in downtown Fairborn.
