WILBERFORCE – Central State Athletic Director Jahan Culbreath has announced the University’s 2015 class of Athletic Hall of Fame inductees. Joining the CSU Hall of Fame this year will be Thelanious “Laney” Prioleau, Dr. Arthur E. Thomas, and the 1990 Central State football team.

“We are proud of the inductees and appreciate everything they have done for Central State,” Culbreath said. “The induction ceremony is an opportunity for all the proud Central State alumni to come together to celebrate the accomplishments of Marauder athletics. The event serves as a platform to relive great memories and honor the great achievements of our inductees.

In addition to this year’s inductees, Central State will pay special tribute to the 1965 CSU men’s basketball team and Hall of Fame women’s basketball player Trona Logan.

The undefeated ‘65 team will be in attendance to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the NAIA national championship season. The Marauders had a dominant team in ‘65, going unbeaten in 30 games. They won national tournament games by 21, 14, 9 and 16 points before trouncing Oklahoma Baptist, 85-51, in the title game.

Logan, a former player and administrator at CSU, will have her No. 30 jersey officially retired during the luncheon. After helping to establish the CSU women’s basketball program as a perennial powerhouse in the late 80s and early 90s, Logan was elected to the CSU Athletic Hall of Fame in 1997. Diagnosed with ALS in 2011, Logan continues to be a spokesperson for the disease by hosting events throughout Dayton to help raise ALS awareness.

James “Shack” Harris will serve as the keynote speaker for the event. Harris is a longtime NFL administrator and the first black quarterback ever to start a NFL season opener. TV personality and entrepreneur Omarosa Manigault will serve as the Mistress of Ceremony.

The 2015 Hall of Fame Luncheon will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 9 at the Country Club of the North in Beavercreek. Tickets to the induction ceremony are available for $35 each and can be purchased by calling the CSU Athletic Office at (937) 376-6345. All those planning to attend must RSVP prior to the event and purchase their ticket(s) on or before Friday, October 2.
